World Skate announce $500,000 total prize purse for WST Sharjah World Championships!

Written by Niall Neeson

World Skate are excited to share all the remaining hotel, skateboarding practice schedule, round format and (hopefully!) other relevant information for our pioneering UAE showcase double-header WST Sharjah World Championships 2022, a huge milestone on the Road To Paris 2024!

The bulletin containing all you need to know about the contest and your stay can be found here alongside contact details should anyone have any questions.

Quick headlines from the downloadable bulletin are of course the 500K USD in prize money split totally evenly between disciplines and sexes -and the announcement of the recommended official hotel being the Intercontinental Residence Suites which are a mere 10 minutes from Dubai airport.

Included in the bulletin is a link to transport advice and some general background info to help skaters make the most of their stay, including location links to all the skateparks in the Dubai area.

Many skaters have already arrived in the UAE to set up camp, with current Men’s Olympic Park gold medalist- and first to christen the new California Skateparks pro park construction- Keegan Palmer saying afterward:

“Aljada Skate Park is an amazing facility- the perfect location for an Olympic qualifier. I’m just stoked to be here, at the most creative skatepark in the region!”

With all 12 Tokyo Olympic medallists confirmed to rip among the 300 skateboarders jetting in from around the globe- including for the first time skaters from Zambia and Mozambique- the stage is set for a truly epic World Championships of Park and Street, all starting in two weeks’ time.
