Unique to the Paris Olympic Games has been the creation of a funnel process which has taken the top athletes in four Olympic disciplines and syphoned them off to compete in a turbo-charged distillation process to produce the Paris contenders in each.

The Olympic Qualifier Series for Paris 2024 took place over 2 legs half a world away from one another and not much more than a month apart: Shanghai and Budapest hosted two custom-created skate spaces for both Street and Park to determine who really had the minerals to make it to Paris.

Each event also served a similar role for Freestyle BMX, Breaking and Climbing, too-so the shared sense of a date with destiny was palpable.

Despite what anyone might try to tell you to the contrary, the stakes and the resulting tension were both high as the crescendo of a date with the biggest skateboard contests of all time began to hove over the horizon.
