With the Paris Olympic cycle complete and a new four-year World Skateboarding Tour about to get underway this coming June, now is the perfect time to update you about changes to WST Season Criteria, implemented as the result of our post-Paris debrief- which saw the input of the Athlete, Coaching, Judging and Technical Commissions as well as a Working Group constituted by a select group National Federations. The recommendations arrived at were then ratified by the World Skate Executive Board.
The debriefing process covered every aspect of competitive skateboarding, supporting the final decisions made on several key topics.
Amongst the changes to be introduced as a result of these discussions, the new approach on minimum competitive age is by far the most noticeable new directive.
Supported through the debriefing- with the largest collective consensus- was the learning that the accelerating standard and corresponding challenges in Olympic skateboarding has necessitated the introduction of a minimum age limit, both for entering WST events and all Skateboarding competitions sanctioned by or conducted under the rules of World Skate.
Accordingly, by 2028 the youngest age eligible to enter any Skateboarding competitions sanctioned by or conducted under the rules of World Skate will be 14.
This age limit will be introduced gradually: 2025 will begin at age 11, and the floor will rise a year with each year we go forward to 2028.
You can find further detail on the age ruling as well as season updates on:

Comprehensive updates of all contest parameters which are subject to change will be included in the competition rules which we will release at the end of this month!
