We hope that you recall how, back in March of this year, World Skate announced an expansion of our Paris cycle Youth Athlete Development (YAD) and Women In Sport High Performance (WISH) Pathway programs into a wider scholarship initiative, that will cover aspiring skateboarders, judges and coaches collectively.
After carefully considering the more than three hundred and fifty applicants from eighty-nine nations to our new Development Scholarship Program a total of sixteen skateboarders, seven coaches and five judges from sixteen different countries have been accepted as part of the initial program activity- which launchs this November with a training camp at Woodward East in the USA.
The Programme, which is funded through Olympic Solidarity, will run all the way through to LA28 and includes immersive training stays and camps, select competition cost off-sets and performance support, area specific mentors, regular online network collaborations plus relevant vocational modules and courses such as our Coach Education Accreditation System (CEAS) and ISJC Judging programmes.
The Development Scholarships form part of World Skate’s wider skateboard development strategy which aims to champion the global growth and development of skateboarding, through the inclusive availability of educational and support opportunities.
