World Skate Games Asunción: All You Need To Know!

The World Skate Games are a biennial mega-event which include skateboarding World Championships in Vert, Park, Street, Downhill and Slalom all in the space of two weeks in October!

This year they are taking place in Paraguay in a first for the landlocked South American nation with a small but passionate skate scene.

The Park and Street World Championships are part of the World Skateboarding Tour, the sole pathway to skateboarding in the Olympic Games.

The Vert ramp for WSG ASU is World Skate's very own behemoth as seen at WSG Buenos Aires 2022 and WSG Rome 2024 previously!

The Park terrain for WSG ASU is a permanent addition to Latin America's epic concrete skateboarding tradition and will feature in the 2031 Pan-American Games!

The Street Field Of Play is a total rebuild of the pre-existing streetcourse to bring it up to international standards for future use as Paraguay aims to become a fixed destination for international skate events and action sports tourism!

Qualifiers/ Semifinals

  • Best one of three x 30-second Runs

Finals

  • 3/5/3 format: best run of three plus two best single tricks out of five attempts create a cumulative score up to a theoretical maximum of 300 points.

Park

  • Skateboarders competing in the qualifier, quarterfinals, and semifinals will get three runs of 45 seconds (or until they fall) to register their best run, with the highest score counting.
  • Final consists of two stages: all eight skaters will have three runs of 45 seconds (or until they fall), with the highest score counting. The top five skaters after those three runs will then skate a fourth 'golden' run.
  • The best run score will be used to determine the final finishing positions.

Qualifiers and Quarterfinals

  • Best of 2 Runs
  • 2 Runs x 45 Seconds, best run counts
  • 45 minutes of practice per day before that day’s competition begins 

Semifinals

  • 2 runs & 3 solo ‘best trick’ attempts per athlete

Finals

  • 3 runs & 3 solo ‘best trick’ attempts per athlete
  • Final scores are based on highest- scoring run and highest-scoring ‘best trick’ 
  • Athletes scored from 0-100.00 on each run/ trick attempt giving a theoretical maximum score of 200
  • Best 8 advance to the final
