Ahead of our series of skateboarding World Championships being held over the coming weeks in Asuncion, we thought it would be cool to acknowledge the locals who put Paraguay on the skateboarding map.

Paraguay is home to a small but passionate skate scene which has predominantly coalesced around the capital of Asuncion.

The best-know skaters from Paraguay are Leandro Acuna and Renan Godoy, both of whom had cameos in the 2019 pro tour video Heartbeats To Heaven featuring two of our own World Skateboarding Tour stars in the form of Peru’s Angelo Caro and Brazil’s Giovanni Vianna- as well as USA’s Tyler Surrey and Czechia’s Maxim Habanec.

Paraguay have themselves sent three skateboarders to join the World Skateboarding Tour at different stages- the aforementioned Leandro Acuna, Marco Fernandez and Luz ‘Dahi’ Salinas.

The scene in Paraguay is capably served by Alley Skateboard Shop located on Avenue Mariscal Lopez, not far from the location of the Park and Street venues for the World Skate Games, which has been in business for over 15 years.

As well as a shop, they have their own mini-park and skate school.

As they say themselves "we are more then a shop- we are a community".
