Welcome to Episode 3 of LET'S TALK ABOUT JUDGING, the educational series created by World Skate’s International Skateboard Judging Commission (ISJC) to support development and education within Skateboard Judging globally.
Each episode is narrated by one of our continental members and brings frequently-asked questions on Skateboard Judging and related topics or matters to the fore.
This time around, Chile’s Daniela Vergara is on hand to discuss the dimension of Single Tricks with Street Head Judge Garrett Hill.
Among the aspects of single trick judging discussed are how repetition rules are now interpreted amidst the move from 5 single tricks to 3, how Run scores differ from Single Trick scores, metrics such as body dynamics versus board dynamics, how speed may impact scoring and a good deal else.
All episodes are subtitled in Spanish, French, Portuguese and Chinese in order to distribute knowledge and content within all continental areas.
Our intention is that Let’s Talk About Judging will help enlighten, elucidate and inform athletes, coaches, National Federation staff and the general public, as well as aspiring or new skateboard judges, with a view to better understanding the nuances and logic behind the applied judging methods and processes in today’s competitive skateboarding environment.
As with all our Judging Education output, this series forms part of a knowledge bank for judges, coaches and athletes which can be found in the playlists of our Skateboard Judging Education YouTube Channel here.
