Written by Niall Neeson

As you will by now no doubt be aware, the World Skateboarding Tour forms the Road To Paris 2024 for both Skateboarding Park and Street disciplines.

We are currently in the first phase of qualification, which began with Street Skateboarding Rome 2022 and extends as far as WST Sharjah in January 2024.

This journey includes stops in the UAE, Argentina, Italy and Switzerland- but we are also glad to be able to announce an additional WST Street contest in Japan from 10th-17th December 2023.

After WST Sharjah 2024, we enter Phase 2- the Olympic Qualifier Series.

The OQS caps entrance into Phase 2 at 44 skateboarders per discipline (Park/ Street) and division (Men/ Women), meaning a total of 176 skateboarders who will be eligible to compete in the further three competitions in each discipline during 2024 which will determine who represents their country in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Now as you may remember from the Tokyo Olympics, the IOC have a fair-play system which governs national quotas, continental representation, universality places and host country allocations within the fields of final Olympians. Read about those quota allocations and more here and the Phase 2 qualification criteria here, and rest assured we will bring you further information on the Japan event and relevant OWSR points distribution a little later in this season!
